Obi-Wan Kenobi Series Gets Release Date & Poster
It’s arriving on a very special date
Obi-Wan Kenobi finally has a release date, and it’s not very far away. The limited series centred on the fan-favourite Jedi will hit Disney+ May 25. If that rings a bell for any Star Wars fans, it’s because this also happens to be the 45th anniversary of A New Hope‘s release. That’s fan service in itself, isn’t it?
Along with this release date reveal, we also have our first official poster accompanying it. The poster can be seen in all it’s glory below.

The poster itself hints at where we’ll find Kenobi 10 years on from ROTJ; a secluded Obi-Wan, with longer hair, a full bearded and with his lightsaber in hand ready for battle. The series will give more insight into Obi-Wan’s exile on Tatooine as he watches over a young Luke Skywalker from afar. He’ll also be avoiding the gaze of Jedi hunters looking for the last of those faithful to the religion.
It is also no secret of the show’s exciting cast list. New stars featured in the Star Wars universe include Eternals‘ Kumail Nanjiani, Game of Thrones‘ Indira Varma, Homeland‘s Rupert Friend and Straight Outta Compton‘s O’Shea Jackson Jr. Friend is rumoured to appear as The Grand Inquisitor.
Kenobi actor Ewan McGregor is also joined by fellow Star Wars alumni Joel Egerton and Bonnie Piesse who reprise their roles as Owen and Beru Lars, Luke’s guardians/uncle and aunt. Oh, there’s also Hayden Christensen making a triumphant return as Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader. He’ll be back for a confirmed rematch with McGregor’s Jedi master. This is being described as “the rematch of the century”. Yeah, we can’t wait.
Obi-Wan Kenobi hits Disney+ on May 25.
