The acting legend passed away peacefully at home

Canadian actor Christopher Plummer has sadly passed away at the age of 91. The star was most well known for his role as Captain Von Trapp in The Sound Of Music alongside Dame Julie Andrews back in 1965.

Reports say that Plummer passed away peacefully at his home in Connecticut. His wife Elaine Taylor was at his side.

Other roles he was known for included 2019’s Knives Out, 2001’s A Beautiful Mind and 2012’s Beginners – the latter earned him an Oscar. Plummer also famously replaced Kevin Spacey in 2018’s All the Money in the World.

His career also stretched across television and theatre notably. Plummer’s TV credits included Departure in 2019 and Counterstrike between 1990 and 1993. Theatre credits included the 1982 Broadway production of Othello playing Iago and 2004 Broadway production of King Lear as the title character.

Long-time friend and manger, Lou Pitt, had the following to say about the late star of film, television and theatre:

He was a national treasure who deeply relished his Canadian roots. Through his art and humanity, he touched all of our hearts and his legendary life will endure for all generations to come. He will forever be with us.
