Rupert Penry-Jones Confirms Role In The Batman

Spooks actor Rupert Penry-Jones has confirmed the role he is playing in upcoming superhero flick, The Batman.
Whilst speaking to Holly Willoughby and Philip Schofield on yesterday’s (February 2) This Morning, the star got to talking about the film and spoke about his role.
It was revealed that the actor is playing Mayor Don Mitchell alongside Robert Pattinson’s Batman/Bruce Wayne. The film also includes stars such as Zoë Kravitz, Colin Farrell and Paul Dano playing Selina Kyle/Catwoman, Oswald Cobblepot/The Penguin and Edward Nashton/The Riddler respectively.

We shouldn’t get too attached to Jones’ part in the film though. From the looks of the first trailer and various set pictures from the film’s shoot in Liverpool, it appears that our character’s will be joining for Don Mitchell’s funeral. Could his death be at the hands of The Riddler? Could this be the inciting incident of the film?
The Batman will centre on Bruce Wayne’s second year of crimefighting as he tries to uncover a string of murders which will put his growing detective skills to use.

Other stars confirmed for the film include Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner James Gordon, John Turturro as Carmine Falcone and Peter Saarsgard as District Attorney Gil Colson.
The Batman is due to hit cinemas March 4, 2022.
