Emma Stone Confirmed For Cruella 2 Return | ScreenHeads

Not everyone was spooked by the Black Widow ordeal it seems

Looks like Emma Stone will be donning the black and white garbs at least once more. According to Deadline, the Oscar winner has inked a deal with Disney to star in a sequel to Cruella. The film hit both cinemas and Disney+ simultaneously earlier this year, following the trend of many film releases due to the restrictions surrounding the Covid-19 pandemic.

There was news of a Cruella 2 being in the works as early as June. However, recent goings on almost put those plans to bed. The growing lawsuit predicament between Disney and star Scarlet Johansson over the Black Widow‘s Disney+ release apparently had Stone backing her corner and almost following suit.

The lawsuit is due to a breach of contract and loss of pay due to the film’s joint cinema and home streaming release on Disney+’s Premier Access. But, it appears that Disney have been able to talk Stone down regarding the situation.

It is no surprise as to why the House of Mouse is eager to get another film released centred on the 101 Dalmations villain. Cruella earned over $222 million in worldwide ticket sales and has proven to be a hit with fans.

The film is set to have the original film’s director Craig Gillespie back at the helm. Original screenwriter Tony McNamara also returning.

Cruella is currently in cinemas and available on Disney+’s Premier Access.
