Alfred Molina Returning As Doc Ock For Spider-Man 3 | ScreenHeads

Our Spider-Verse senses are tingling!

It looks like another past Spider villain making a return for the web slinger’s latest instalment!

The Hollywood Reporter have reported that Alfred Molina is set to return as Doctor Otto Octavius in Tom Holland’s outing. This news follows rumours from GWW that the actor had been spotted on set last month.

Fans will remember Molina’s turn as Doc Ock from 2004’s Spider-Man 2 opposite Tobey Maguire’s version of Peter Parker. If Molina is involved, it adds smoke to the fiery theory that we’re getting a live-action Spider-Verse film.

It was reported earlier this year that Jamie Foxx was returning as Electro from the Andrew Garfield-fronted ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2’. Foxx appeared to confirm the news on Instagram, also mentioning that the would not be blue as he was previously. However, Foxx hastily deleted the post not long after.

In a recent interview with Cinemablend, Foxx responded to the rumours further by saying the following:

You’re absolutely right, I can’t speak on it. But if I’m in it, I’ll be so happy.

Make of that what you will.

Whether or not old faces – including Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield – pop up, we can expect faces from Holland’s era. Jacob Batalon, Zendaya, Marisa Tomei and Tony Revolori are confirmed to return respectively.

Another welcome addition to the film is Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange. He is said to take on the mentor role previously filled by Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark/Iron Man and Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury. It is thought that Strange’s presence and his upcoming solo film, titled Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, will be what ties together the Spider-Verse side of the story should this actually be explored.

The Untitled Spider-Man 3 is set to be released December 17, 2021. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is currently set to be released March 25, 2022.
