“I guess they were all scared, that I’d be…a psycho”

Disney has finally released their first look at Cruella starring Emma Stone in the title role. Take a look at the trailer below:

IGN/Disney

Stone looks set to bring her all as she embodies a younger version of the Dalmation-hating Disney villain. Set against the backdrop of 1970’s London, we follow young fashion designer “Estella” as she becomes obsessed with dog furs. Eventually, we see that she transforms into the black and white haired monster played previously in live-action by Glenn Close.

The film also stars Emma Thompson as Baroness Von Hellman – the head of a prestigious fashion house and Estella’s employer. Hellman will apparently help in moulding De Vil into a criminal during the film. The cast is rounded out with Joel Fry and Paul Walter Hauser as Jasper and Horace respectively, Emily Beecham as Anita, Mark Strong as Boris and Kirkby Howell-Baptiste as Tabitha.

The film was originally set for a theatrical release with a release date of December 23, 2020. However, like everything else, this was pulled due to the Coronavirus pandemic and pushed back to May of this year.

The director’s chair is filled by I, Tonya‘s Craig Gillespie, with ex-Cruella Glenn Close serving as executive producer.

Cruella is set to hit US cinemas May 28, with a UK release date yet to be confirmed.
