Ryan Reynolds has grown into his own in recent years. A unique and lovable sense of humour. Incredible acting/comedic chops. The ability to laugh at his past failings. Is there anything that can bother this A-lister?

Our Deadpool fanatics have put their heads together and come up with some fun and unexpected facts about that guy married to Blake Lively (see, we can do it too).

He didn’t enjoy working on Green Lantern (2011)

Oh yeah, Reynolds played another well-known superhero before Deadpool…you didn’t know that? OF COURSE YOU DID. Ryan Reynolds’ turn as Hal Jordan is historic for many reasons (most bad).

You would think that the one takeaway would be that the cast and crew all had a ball making the flick…well think again. Reynolds has admitted to not enjoying the production of Green Lantern, mainly due to having a poor relationship with director Martin Campbell. In fact, when the film was revealed a critical failure the actor had a sigh of relief due to not wanting to play the role again.

Has a big fear of flying

To be fair, I think anyone would feel the same after an incident like this. The Deadpool star apparently came to acquire a fear of flying after he went skydiving and his parachute failed to open on first attempt.

Yeah…yeah that’s fair enough. Even for Green Lantern.

Wanted to play The Flash for Warner Bros.

Whereas Ben Affleck swore off superhero movies after the failure of Daredevil (before returning for Batman), Ryan Reynolds appears to have wanted to prove that he can make a superhero role work!

Before Ezra Miller won the role of Barry Allen/The Flash at Warner Bros., Reynolds made it clear and public that he wanted in on the role. Of course, this was before the studio was entertaining the idea of putting The Scarlet Speedster on the big screen. Plus, this actor had the last laugh thanks to pushing for the role of Wade Wilson to get a solo outing. The rest is history!

Failed his high school Drama class

I know, right? 2010’s MTV Movie Award nominee for Best Kiss didn’t have an easy going start to the acting game (it’s a Ryan Reynolds piece, it calls for sarcasm).

Yes, the lead of Just Friends failed his Drama class in his high school years. But, obviously he kept at it. He starred in the likes of TV’s Two Guys, a Girl and a Pizza Place and National Lampoon’s Van Wilder which helped to put him on the map.
