The most intense staring contest and the return of Baron Zemo

Last week’s Super Bowl had Marvel fans rejoicing as a new trailer for The Falcon and the Winter Soldier was released. You can watch the trailer below:

Marvel Entertainment

The trailer touches on the hostile/brotherly relationship between Sebastian Stan’s Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier and Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson/Falcon (which ends in a childish stare-off) whilst also featuring the return of Emily VanCamp’s Sharon Carter.

We also get a closer look at Daniel Brühl’s Baron Helmut Zemo. The villain returns as he declares he does not wish to “leave his work unfinished”. Does this mean we’ll see him carry on the mission he started in 2016’s Captain America: Civil War?

It has also been revealed recently that Don Cheadle’s James “Rhodey” Rhodes/War Machine will appear in the show. Whether he will feature in a cameo role or prominent role is yet to be discovered.

Although we can see from the footage that Wyatt Russell’s John F. Walker will wield Cap’s shield for the U.S government, there is still the question of who the shield will end up with when the series ends. Especially with other footage for the series featuring Wilson owning the all-American vibranium frisbee.

The official premise for the series reads as follows:

“After being handed the mantle of Captain America at the end of Avengers: Endgame (2019), Sam Wilson teams up with Bucky Barnes in a worldwide adventure that puts their abilities to the test as they fight the anti-patriotism group the Flag Smashers.”

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is due to debut on Disney+ March 19. The show will consist of six 45-50 minute episodes and air them weekly like WandaVision and The Mandalorian.
