Elvis stars Once Upon a Time in Hollywood‘s Austin Butler as the famous King of Rock and Roll, with Tom Hanks starring as Colonel Tom Parker, Presley’s manager. The film will chronicle Presley’s days from a youngster to being one of the world’s most renowned musical artists.
From the looks of the trailer, we’re in for an energetic and fast-paced feature, which fits in with the style and dancing of Presley. The film will dive straight into the musician’s ability to woo the ladies whilst on stage and also his close, heartfelt connection to his roots. Although, we shouldn’t be surprised with Luhrmann at the helm. The director is known for his energy-filled, yet romantically-vibed films. For reference, take a look at William Shakespeare’s Romeo + Juliet and 2013’s The Great Gatsby.
Other cast members include the likes of The Society‘s Olivia DeJonge as Priscilla Presley, Lord of the Rings‘ David Wenham as Hank Snow and Stranger Things‘ Dacre Montgomery as Steve Binder.
Elvis is due to hit cinemas June 24.
