First Trailer For Lightyear Released
“To infinity, and…”
Get ready to head into space with the first teaser for Pixar’s Toy Story spin-off, Lightyear. You can watch the trailer below:
Playing out to David Bowie’s Starman, we watch as the real life (well, fictional) inspiration for one of Andy’s favourite toys, Buzz Lightyear, rockets off into space. With a hairline, normal attire and action-packed goings on, it looks like this is going to be very different from the adventures of Woody and co.
The project was first announced at Disney’s 2020 Investor Day with a title reveal and blink-and-you’ll-miss-it footage. The event also unveiled Avengers: Endgame‘s Chris Evans as taking over voicing the title character. Tim Allen famously voiced the character since the first Toy Story instalment in 1995.

Noise of who else is joining Evans is quiet for the time being, however we do know that Finding Dory co-director Angus MacLane is helming the project and it will be released next Summer.
The official synopsis for the film reads:
Lightyear is a sci-fi action-adventure and the definitive origin story of Buzz Lightyear (voice of Chris Evans) — the hero who inspired the toy. The film reveals how a young test pilot became the Space Ranger that we all know him to be today.
The release of the teaser trailer also actioned the release of the first poster, which you can see below:

Lightyear is currently scheduled to release June 17, 2022.
