Fan-cast Beyond

In response to the recent news of Michael Keaton possibly returning to the Batman role, we just couldn’t resist. The idea of a live-action Batman Beyond has been rumbling around since the early noughties with a lot of people anticipating the fresh take on the dark knight.

Batman Beyond tells the story of Bruce Wayne, way in the future, mentoring a young man named Terry McGinnis as the new Batman. The world of Beyond kicked off as an animated TV show in 1999, then going on to spread into graphic novels and having people hope for a flesh and bones take some day. Having a very different type of person under the cowl but with the same sense of justice is what gives the show such appeal…plus all the futuristic stuff is pretty cool too.

At ScreenHeads, we’ve had our idea for a Batman Beyond live-action cast for some time now, and with the recent news surrounding Keaton, we felt there was no better time to push this fan-cast up the schedule. A bit hazy on this show? Here’s a brief trailer for it to give you a better idea of what we got:

I’d cast Jason Isaacs as Derek Powers. But other than that. The cast is pretty good.

The only change I would make is for the character of Warren McGinnis. I would actually pick Mark Hamill as a nod to the original DC animated universe which gave rise to “Batman Beyond.”
