The Mandalorian Season 2 Reveals [SPOILER] Is Alive
A good way to make us eager for the rest of the season!
WARNING! SPOILERS FOR THE MANDALORIAN SEASON 2 BELOW
Today (September 30) saw the return of Mando and The Child in The Mandalorian‘s first episode of season 2. The opening episode, titled ‘The Marshal’, continued with our bounty hunter’s mission to return Baby Yoda to his people. Safe to say, we ran into a bit of nostalgia and shock return for a big Star Wars character.

Landing on Tatooine, Mando searched for a rumoured other Mandalorian. Tatooine is well known in Star Wars as the home planet of the Skywalker family. Arriving in the mining town of Mos Pelgo, Mando meets ‘The Marshal’/Cobb Vanth, played by Timothy Olyphant. Cobb is the town’s protector who appears to be wearing Mando armour…which also looks a little familiar.
Throughout the episode, Mando and Cobb work to kill the monstrous krayt dragon, a deal made so that the latter will return the sacred armour. From this adventure, we learn more about Cobb’s mysterious armour. We find out Cobb traded it off some Jawas, the junk traders of Tatooine. Cobb also admits it wasn’t he who left the armour in such poor condition.

Needless to say, Mando, Cobb, the citizens of Los Pelgro and the untrustworthy Tusken Raiders take down the krayt dragon. From there, Mando takes the armour and flies off of Tatooine with The Child.
However, someone is watching as the ship leaves the planet. He turns to walk away and reveals himself to be…an aged and heavily scarred Boba Fett, played by Star Wars alumni Temuera Morrison! Famously known for originally playing Jango Fett in the prequel trilogy, Morrison also played Boba Fett through voice in the remastered versions of the original trilogy films. Technically, in canon, he is Boba Fett.

What does this episode ultimately tell us Star Wars fans? Pretty heavily, it tells us that Boba Fett survived his fall into the mouth of The Mighty Sarlacc. Fett’s Sarlacc encounter famously occurred in Return of the Jedi.
What does that mean? He has been roaming Tatooine unarmored since, thanks to the Jawas and Cobb. Another nod to Boba’s fate? The mention of an empty Sarlacc pit, to which Cobb replies he’s never known this to occur before.
Could this mean we will be seeing more of Fett moving forward? Absolutely. Morrison’s reappearance means that Fett will be causing trouble for Mando at some point.
The Mandalorian airs weekly on Fridays, only on Disney+.
