Pierce Brosnan eyed to portray Alfred Pennyworth in ‘The Batman’
The rumour-mill has been turning for quite a while now about who will be joining Robert Pattinson in the cast of The Batman, especially in terms of the title character’s faithful butler. Just last month it was speculated that The Iron Lady star Richard E. Grant was being lined up to play the iconic Alfred Pennyworth. Now, a certain ex-007 face has been thrown into the bat cave for speculation.
Amateur filmmaker Ryan Unicomb has seemed to spark word that Goldeneye actor Pierce Brosnan is in talks to play the servant and confidant of Bruce Wayne/Batman. Unicomb took to instagram to post a picture of Brosnan with the caption “Pierce Brosnan has entered the chat party.” followed by an old man emoji and a bat emoji.

Fans were very quick to put the puzzle together and start to question whether or not Unicomb’s cryptic information is something to take as a lead – however, if it’s true, Brosnan would be a good fit for the role and could be strong in the running as of now anyway.
Brosnan’s history playing a british spy would definitely fit well with the backstory that seems to be firmly attached to the character’s backstory nowadays – especially in Epix’s new show, Pennyworth.
If all is true and our ex-007 actor wins the role, he would be joining the likes of Alfie‘s Michael Caine, Sleepy Hollow‘s Michael Gough and The Time Machine‘s Jeremy Irons in being cast in the coveted role.

Not much else is known about Matt Reeves’ The Batman except that Tenet’s Robert Pattinson will play the title character and it will be showing the hero in his early days trying to hone his skills on the trail of a murder as he battles an array of classic villains. We can expect more concrete casting news as we lead up to the beginning of filming in January.
The Batman is due for release June 25 2021 whilst Epix’s Pennyworth airs Sundays in the US with a UK release date yet to be announced.
