The Santa Clause Series Coming to Disney+
Tim Allen will be returning as Scott Calvin himself
Christmas 2021 may be behind us, but we still have some exciting festive news for you. Disney+ has officially ordered a series continuing the story of the Santa Clause film series. Reported by Variety, this will be made as a limited series. It will also bring back Tim Allen in the red coat and white beard.
The series synopsis reads as follows:
“Scott Calvin is on the brink of his 65th birthday and realizing that he can’t be Santa forever. He’s starting to lose a step in his Santa duties, and more importantly, he’s got a family who could benefit from a life in the normal world, especially his two kids who have grown up at the Pole. With a lot of elves, children, and family to please, Scott sets out to find a suitable replacement Santa while preparing his family for a new adventure in a life south of the pole.“

The series will see Allen back on Christmas duties for the first time in 16 years. The original film from 1994 saw him famously play Scott Calvin, a pessimistic business man who causes Santa to fall off his roof on Christmas Eve. This then leads him to becoming the next Santa. This was followed by 2002’s The Santa Clause 2, in which Scott must find himself a Mrs Claus. Then in 2006 we got The Santa Clause 3: The Escape Claus, where Scott is up against Martin Short’s Jack Frost. The original film was directed by John Pasquin, whilst both sequels were directed by Michael Lembeck.
Jack Burditt, who created Allen’s series Last Man Standing, will serve as executive producer and showrunner on the series. Allen himself will also be executive producing. It is currently unknown which stars from the movies will return. However, it is expected that at least Carol Newman/Mrs Claus Elizabeth Mitchell and Eric Lloyd’s Charlie Calvin will be appearing.
The untitled Santa Claus limited series currently does not have a release date for Disney+.
