Sir Sean Connery Dies Aged 90
The actor was the first to star as 007 agent James Bond
The family of Sir Sean Connery have informed the BBC that the legendary Scottish actor has sadly passed away.
The James Bond star reportedly passed away in his sleep whilst in the Bahamas. It is believe that he had been unwell for some time.
Connery’s son Jason said the screen legend “had many of his family who could be in the Bahamas around him” when he died overnight in Nassau.

With a career spanning almost 60 years, the beginning of Connery’s stardom famously boosted in 1962 with his first outing as the famous 007 agent in Dr No, then portraying the character in another five films. From there the actor, who celebrated his 90th birthday in August, went on to other famous roles.
He featured as the father of Harrison Ford’s Indiana Jones in The Last Crusade, Robin Hood in 1976’s Robin and Marian and as Jim Malone in 1987’s The Untouchables. The latter earned Connery an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor.

Other accolades earned over his career included two BAFTA Awards and three Golden Globes.
Honoured with a knighthood in 2000 at Holyrood Palace, the original bond went on to announce his retirement from acting in 2006 after receiving the American Film Institute’s Lifetime Achievement Award. From there, he only came out of retirement once for a voice acting role in 2012’s Sir Billi the Vet.
2020 has already been plagued with the unfortunate deaths of Hollywood stars, such as Chadwick Boseman at the age of 43.
