A Disney+ subscription has never been so exciting!

A great day for everyone who loves Marvel, Star Wars and all other bits and bobs of Disney property.

The likes of Kathleen Kennedy and Kevin Feige took to screens on Thursday (December 11) to reveal information on what Disney will be releasing over the next few years and more information on what is coming soon. Read below to find out what’s in store…

Pixar

Lightyear – June 17, 2022

Disney revealed that our favourite space ranger, Buzz Lightyear, will be getting his own origin story, with Captain America‘s Chris Evans taking over for voicing him! See the title reveal and first official image below:

Pixar Post/Disney

You may be thinking ‘how can an action figure have an origin story?’. Well, Pixar were quick to answer. The film will actually be based on the man who the toy was based off! The story will apparently kick off with Lightyear as a young test pilot.

Other confirmed content from Pixar includes the company’s first long-form TV series Win or Lose which will debut Autumn 2023. There’s also feature film Turning Red which is due for release March 11, 2022 and Luca which is due for release June 18 2021.

Lucasfilm

Obi-Wan Kenobi – TBA

As many will know, the Kenobi series has been in pre-production for some time now, with Ewan McGregor returning as the Jedi master. But now, we have more information on the upcoming Disney+ show! Firstly, here’s your title reveal:

We now know that the series will be set 10 years after Revenge of the Sith, meaning a decade since Kenobi went into exile on Tatooine, Luke and Leia were born and Anakin Skywalker fell to the dark side.

Speaking of Vader, here is the biggest news of all; Hayden Christensen has been confirmed to reprise the role, with Kathleen Kennedy teasing a rematch between the two friends turned foes.

Rangers of the New Republic & Ahsoka – TBA

Set in the same timeline as The Mandalorian, these two new Disney+ shows are set to tie in and explore more of the Star Wars universe 5 years after Return of the Jedi.

Little is known about the former, but the latter will bring back Rosario Dawson as Ahsoka Tano, presumably as she hunts for Grand Admiral Thrawn.

Andor – TBA

The Cassian Andor prequel series starring Diego Luna will follow the rebel on his adventures before the events of 2016’s Rogue One. Production kicked off on the spy thriller just two weeks ago so we can probably expect a release in late 2021.

The series will also star the likes of Stellan Skarsgaard, Genevieve O’Reilly, and Fiona Shaw.

Lando – TBA

It’s about time the swarve smuggler got his own show! Yes, Han Solo’s pal Lando Calrissian will be getting his own Disney+ show. However, that’s all we know at this point!

It’s safe to assume that Donald Glover will be reprising his role as the character from Solo: A Star Wars Story, and hopefully we’ll get a cameo from Billy Dee Williams to bookend the show!

The Acolyte – TBA

Described as a mystery thriller, this series will take place within the final days of the High Republic era. Aside from that, not much else is known about the project other than it being created by Leslye Headland.

Indiana Jones 5 – July 2022

We’ve known it’s coming but now we have more concrete news on it’s existence. Kathleen Kennedy took the time to tell us that the film will be the final outing for the character and that Harrison Ford is 100% taking on the role again.

Rogue Squadron – December 2023

From Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins, we’re getting a feature film based around a team of pilots in the years of The Rebellion. Presumably, the film will somehow tie to the video game released in October 2020.

Other additions to lucasfilm’s slate include animated series Star Wars: The Bad Batch, anime anthology series Star Wars: Visions, A Droid Story which will feature shorts based around R2-D2 and C3PO, a new Willow film with Warwick Davis returning and an untitled Star Wars film from Thor: Ragnarok director Taiki Waititi.

You can see a trailer for Bad Batch below:

Ironheart will follow the story of Riri Williams – a genius inventor who creates a technological armour that rivals Tony Stark’s Iron Man creation. The Disney+ series will star If Beale Street Could Talk‘s Dominique Thorne as the Williams.

Armor Wars – TBA

Don Cheadle is due to return as Colonel James ‘Rhodey’ Rhodes/War Machine in this Disney+ show as he fights against those who have obtained Tony Stark’s tech.

She-Hulk – TBA

Another Disney+ show, but this one has been in talks for a while now. Tatiana Maslany is absolutely, 100% confirmed to play Jennifer Walters (Bruce Banner’s cousin) despite her refusal earlier this year. The show will also feature returning MCU stars as Mark Ruffalo is set to play Bruce Banner/Hulk and Tim Roth is due to return as The Abomination from 2008’s The Incredible Hulk.

Ms Marvel – Late 2021

Iman Vellani has already kicked off production as Kamala Khan, a metahuman who is a big fan of Captain Marvel. Vellani will even return as Khan in Captain Marvel 2. See below Marvel’s sizzle reel for the show:

Hawkeye – Late 2021

Also already in production, Jeremy Renner’s Clint Barton/Hawkeye will be making his way to Disney+ as he trains comic book sidekick Kate Bishop, who is now confirmed to be played by Hailee Steinfeld.

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania – TBA

The third feature featuring Paul Rudd’s Scott Lang/Ant-Man and Evangeline Lily’s Hope Van Dyne/The Wasp. Nothing is know about the plot but Michael Douglas and Michelle Pfeiffer are due to return.

New cast members include Kathryn Newton as a grown up Cassie Lang and Jonathan Majors as villain Kang the Conqueror.

Fantastic Four – TBA

Marvel’s first family is finally coming home! We don’t have any casting news or production dates but we do know that Spider-Man: Homecoming director Jon Watts will be directing. We even got a title reveal – see the below:
