Umbrella Academy renewed for a second season by Netflix - ScreenHeads

With its success making it the new Stranger Things of Netflix, Umbrella Academy has been renewed for a second season.

The show’s social media released the news of a second season being greenlit:

The Netflix series – based on the Dark Horse comic book series of the same name – is confirmed to consist of 10 episodes with all main cast members returning.

Doubt was cast on the show’s future just last week when Aidan Gallagher released some cryptic tweets that implied either he would not be returning as Number 5 or the show would not continue. Turns out, the young actor was simply showing his thanks for playing a character he thoroughly enjoys portraying.

The finale of the first season left the future (or past I should say) of our heroes very questionable indeed. The team opened a portal to travel in time and change history in order for the apocalypse to never happen.

The show stars Juno‘s Ellen Page, Doctor Who‘s Tom Hopper, Misfits‘ Robert Sheehan, Black Nativity‘s Mary J. Blige and The Amazing Spider-Man‘s Colm Feore amongst a long cast that brings you the story of seven adopted siblings with superpowers that are brought back together thanks to the sudden passing of their strict father.

You can catch the first season of Umbrella Academy on Netflix now.
