Zack Snyder’s Justice League will be released in 2021

The Snyder Cut will stream on HBO Max.

Looks like all of that hash tagging for #ReleaseTheSnyderCut finally paid off. After almost three years of fans and actors campaigning for the world to see the mythical Snyder’s Cut, it will finally see the light of day, being streamed on new streaming service HBO Max in 2021.

HBO Max made the announcement today (20th May), one week ahead of its launch. You can see the post below:

Zack Snyder himself then posted a similar promotional image, being quoted as saying: “This is real. #releasethesnydercut”.

Snyder’s version of the 2017 “blockbuster” is said to run at approximately four hours, which may cause it to be broken up into a limited series-styled show. It has also been reported that the theatrical cut includes only 1\4 of what Snyder shot.

Snyder left production of 2017’s Justice league due to a family tragedy, which prompted Warner Bros. to bring in The Avengers‘ Joss Whedon to finish the film. Fans complained that Whedon made the film too light hearted and it ruined the tone of the film series Snyder had set out to create.

Although the backlash of Justice League caused a bit of a shift in Warner Bros. plans for their DCEU, we still have quite a few titles set in that timeline to look forward to:

• Wonder Woman 1984 (August 14, 2020)
• The Suicide Squad (August 6, 2021)
• Black Adam (December 22, 2021)
• The Flash (June 3, 2021)
• Shazam! 2 (November 4, 2022)
• Aquaman 2 (December 16, 2022)

Aside from the above titles, we have The Batman, which has swapped Ben Affleck for Robert Pattinson, with a release date of October 1, 2021. This version of the caped crusader is confirmed to exist in his own container universe for Warner Bros. though there are rumours that 2021’s Flash movie will enable Battinson to exist with Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman and co.

Zack Snyder’s Justice League will stream as of 2021 – a specific date has not been confirmed yet. The Theatrical version of Justice League is available on DVD, Blu-Ray and digital download, soon to be available on Netflix also.
