Ezra Miller’s Flash Rumoured to be Replaced

Ezra Miller's Flash Rumoured to be Replaced | ScreenHeads

Ironically, a Flashpoint Paradox could make this easy

Ever since first appearing in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice over six years ago, Ezra Miller’s Barry Allen has been a staple of the DCEU. His take on the Scarlet Speedster even has a solo film that is due out next Summer as well. So, you’d think that it’s hopefully nowhere but up for The Flash’s cinematic future. Well…maybe not? The actor has recently been facing charges following several incidents. With that, it seems to be coming back to bite him. Warner Bros. have recently apparently put all of Miller’s projects on hold and now there may be extra steps taken.

ScreenGeek have reported that Miller could be replaced in his role as the Justice League member, and by quite a well known face. It’s said that actor Dylan O’Brien is being eyed to step into the red suit and zip around Star City for the future of the DCEU. O’Brien is no stranger to the pop culture world, so if this is true it could be quite a big hit.

The actor’s career kicked off with playing Stiles Stilinski in Teen Wolf between 2011-17. From there he also starred in the Maze Runner film series between 2014-18, whilst also appearing in the likes of The Internship alongside Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn.

The character is currently played on TV by Grant Gustin. Gustin stepped into the role in 2013 for a guest appearance on Arrow. Nowadays, he is still in the role for the show’s eighth season. Gustin and Miller even met on screen during the Arrowverse’s Crisis on Infinite Earths event over 2019-20. Pretty hard to ret-con that, right?

Ezra Miller’s movie is set to adapt the Flashpoint storyline in which Barry Allen attempts to travel back in time to save his mother from being murdered. In doing so, he returns home to a very different timeline. The film is set to star Ben Affleck in his final appearance as Batman, with Michael Keaton returning to the role for the first time since 1992’s Batman Returns. Sasha Calle will also make her first appearance as the DCEU’s version of Supergirl. Calle is the first Latina actress to play the role.

The Flash‘s latest release date after multiple pushbacks was November 4 of this year. However, this has recently been pushed back to June 23, 2023 due to COVID-19’s workload effect on visual effects vendors.
