Gina Carano Fired From The Mandalorian
No Cara Dune in Season 3
In light of Gina Carano’s recent controversial social media posts, Lucasfilm has released a statement announcing the dismissal of the actress from The Mandalorian. A statement was released Wednesday (February 10), with a spokesperson saying the following:
Gina Carano is not currently employed by Lucasfilm and there are no plans for her to be in the future. Nevertheless, her social media posts denigrating people based on their cultural and religious identities are abhorrent and unacceptable.

The actress’ aforementioned posts consisted of her comparing being conservative in today’s America to Jewish persecution in Nazi Germany. With word of Carano’s Mandalorian character apparently set to have her own series in the future…it’s safe to say that slot can now be filled by another show.

Carano has also since sat down with former New York Times alum Bari Weiss to discuss how she found out the news of her firing via social media:
I found out through social media, like everyone else, that I had been fired.

Carano was recently known as Mando’s bounty hunter acquaintance, but the star had quite the career beforehand. She rose to fame as an MMA fighter before switching to acting which saw her tackle roles in the likes of Steven Soderbergh Haywire, Fast & Furious 6 and Deadpool alongside Ryan Reynolds.
With or without Carano, Lucasfilm’s Disney+ plans move forward with The Mandalorian‘s third season in pre-production, plus The Book of Boba Fett also in production. We are also set to get shows centred on the likes of a young Lando Calrissian and Ahsoka Tano in the coming years as revealed at Disney’s Investor Day last year.
The Mandalorian Season 3 is expected to release in 2022 on Disney+.
