Set Pictures From Thor: Love And Thunder Released

Looks like the God of Thunder’s been working out!

With Thor: Love And Thunder finally kicking off filming in Australia, it wasn’t long before we got our first look at our main characters.

Courtesy of the Daily Mail, we have our first glimpses of Chris Hemsworth’s Thor, Chris Pratt’s Peter Quill/Star Lord and Karen Gillan’s Nebula. In the below pictures, we see that Thor has shredded up since the events of Avengers: Endgame, whereas Pratt’s Quill appears to be sporting a more rugged look than usual.

Our hammer-wielding hero also appears to be taking some fashion advice from Quill from the looks of his white vest/sleeveless red leather/jeans/yellow boots combo. Die hard fans will recognise elements of this costume from comics such as Journey Into Mystery and Thunderstrike.

Other set pictures from the Daily Mail show Sean Gunn’s Kraglin also on set sporting Yondu’s metallic headpiece that he inherited during Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.

The inclusion of the Guardians was long expected in Thor’s next outing due to the character’s decision to hitch a ride with the team of misfits at the end of Endgame.

We can expect more character glimpses as filming continues, with stars such as Natalie Portman, Tessa Thompson and Christian Bale touching down in Sydney. Australia to begin shooting their parts.

The film will integrate the story of Portman’s Jane Foster becoming the Mighty Thor as revealed at San Diego Comic-Con back in 2019. Portman revealed that the story will follow the comic storyline of Foster undergoing chemotherapy due to cancer when we first meet her, but by the end she will be wielding Thor’s power.

Thompson will be returning as Valkyrie, current Queen of Asgard, and Bale is to play the main villain of the piece, Gorr the God Butcher. It has also been confirmed that Jaime Alexander will be in the film as Sif, her character from the first two Thor movies.

Due to the film’s ensemble cast, The Hollywood Reporter has reported that the film will have an “Avengers 5 feel”. This is much like how Captain America: Civil War was advertised as an Avengers 2.5 kind of outing thanks to the ensemble cast it credited.

Thor: Love And Thunder is due to hit cinemas May 6, 2022.
