The Teaser for Thor: Love and Thunder is Here!

“I want to choose my own path…”

We’re only a few months from the release of Thor: Love and Thunder. So, it’s about time we got our first glimpse at what is to come. You can watch the much anticipated teaser trailer below:

The trailer reveals that after spending so much time with our Guardians of the Galaxy, the God of Thunder is now set to venture out on his own. For the first time ever, he’s deciding his own fate. This was hinted at the end of Avengers: Endgame in a conversation he had with Tessa Thompson’s Vakyrie. The same conversation in which he appoints her as the new ruler of New Asgard.

This first glimpse gives us a lot to think about before the full film hits theatres in July. We’ve got the inclusion of The Guardians, and it looks like Chris Pratt’s Star Lord has a slightly new look. There is the return of director Taika Waititi’s fan favourite character, Korg. We finally get a look at Russell Crowe’s cameo as Zeus. Oh, then there’s that small detail of Jane Foster’s return, this time as none other than the Mighty Thor.

The news of Natalie Portman’s character taking on the heroic mantle was revealed at 2019’s San Diego Comic-Con. The actress was brought on stage in the revelation that she was returning to the MCU, only for her to end up lifting Mjolnir. Hardcore comic fans instantly knew what this meant. Portman was notably absent from Thor: Ragnarok, but after a conversation with Waititi, she was convinced to come back into the fold.

It is worth noting that there is still no sight of Christian Bale’s Gorr the God Butcher, which is a surprise considering he is the film’s antagonist. With an inevitable second trailer somewhere on the horizon, we can be sure to see him at some point before the film’s release.

Following the events of Avengers: Endgame (2019), Thor attempts to find inner peace but must return to action and recruit Valkyrie, Korg, and Jane Foster—who has become the Mighty Thor—to stop Gorr the God Butcher from eliminating all gods.
