Trailer For The Suicide Squad Drops

We have our first full trailer since DC Fandome’s teaser for James Gunn’s soft sequel (?) To DC’s Taskforce X. You can view the trailer in all of its glory below:

The Suicide Squad offers full looks at the majority of our new roster. This includes Idris Elba’s Bloodsport, John Cena’s The Peacemaker and Sylvester Stallone’s King Shark. Joining the new Belle Reve residents include previous members Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie), Rick Flag (Joel Kinnamen) and Digger Harkness/Captain Boomerang (Jai Courtney), with Viola Davis’ Amanda Waller playing Big Brother as usual.
Much like the first instalment, Flag will be leading the ragtag team on a mission that can earn them time off their prison sentence, this time taking them to the fictional DC location of Corto Maltese. This time round they are set to “destroy Jotunheim, a Nazi-era prison and laboratory which held political prisoners and conducted experiments”.
From the looks of the trailer, the squad will have some enemies to get out of their way. From the looks of the stern (and over the top) instructions some of the team give Peter Capaldi’s Thinker, he could prove to be a thorn in their side. There is also the surprise appearance at the end of Starro, a well known villain from DC comic lore.
The Suicide Squad hits cinemas and HBO Max from July 30.
