“Fans are going mad for it.”

Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps was a big hit from the early noughties onwards. But cast member Will Mellor, who played Gaz on the show, has said he has plans to bring it back. Unfortunately, there’s been a halt so far thanks to the BBC rejecting the idea Mellow revealed to the Daily Star.

Mellor reportedly pitched the idea for the show with original creator Susan Nickson. Unfortunately the Beeb weren’t exactly on the same page:

Fans are going mad for it, so we’ve got the audience. It’s called Two Pints: Last Orders. It’s revamped, it’s really funny. t’s been brought up to the modern day but Gaz and Johnny are still very old school and sit in the pub talking about pies and beer.

Mellor also mentioned that he’s in a position to take the idea to streaming services. Not a bad idea seeings as the scripts have actually been written.

The BBC said no, they don’t want to revisit Two Pints. Now we’re going to look for someone else, whether it’s another channel, whether it’s Britbox or Netflix, because there’s a massive audience for this.

The series saw Mellor starring alongside Ralf Little, Kathryn Drysdale, Natalie Casey and Sheridan Smith. They played a friendship group in their 20s navigating the highs and lows of life in Runcorn.

Little has gone on to star in like the likes of Doctor Who and Death in Paradise, whilst smith has starred in shows such as Gavin & Stacey and Cleaning Up. Mellor himself has recently been seen on Coronation Street, previously catching people’s eye in the likes of Broadchurch back in 2013.

Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps can currently be streaming on BBC iPlayer.
