Fresh Prince of Bel-Air Reboot Finds its Lead
“I’m ready, I’m so ready!”
Looks like Bel-Air – the reboot of Will Smith’s career-making 90’s sitcom – has cast their Will! Singer-songwriter Jabari Banks has won the coveted role and will play the updated version of the character.
Peacock’s YouTube channel revealed the news with a recorded video call of Smith revealing the news to Banks. You can watch the revelation below:

The show will have more of dramatic tone than the original show, with each episode being an hour in length.
It is said that Will will “complicated journey from the streets of West Philadelphia to the gated mansions of Bel-Air.”
It is also said that Bel-Air “will dive deeper into the inherent conflicts, emotions and biases that were impossible to fully explore in a 30 minute sitcom format, while still delivering swagger and nods to the original show.”

There is no other news on casting or story (aside from the fact it will still be led by the lyrics of the original theme song), however it is known that the show is guaranteed to run for at least two seasons.
The reboot is inspired by a four-minute fan film that was made by Morgan Cooper. Through this, Cooper earned himself the positions of director, co-writer and executive producer on the show.
Bel-Air will stream on Peacock once released.
