We’re getting more of the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen

It looks like Matt Murdock will be popping more often in the MCU moving forward. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Marvel Studios are currently developing a continuation of the TV series Daredevil. That’s right, the same show that was first started on Netflix and ran for three seasons. The show is set to be written by duo Matt Corman and Chris Ord who were behind spy show Covert Affairs. This has then taking over the reins from Arrow‘s Erik Oleson. It can also safely be said that Charlie Cox will be playing the title character given his recent appearance within the MCU already.

This news comes only months after Daredevil and there Marvel shows that streamed on Netflix migrated over to Disney+. This was due to their rights moving back to Marvel Studios officially. The streaming giant built up their own expanded universe with Daredevil, Iron Fist, Jessica Jones and Luke Cage all getting their own shows. This was before them all merging in a team-up show, The Defenders.

It is currently unknown if these other characters will also get continuations or if they’ll pop up with Matt Murdock, but it can be assumed that the new show will be testing the waters for how these characters can exist in their new playground that is the MCU.

Marvel Studios have done a steady job of dropping some Netflix Marvel characters into their films and shows recently. Murdock himself of course had a quick appearance in last year’s Spider-Man: No Way Home, appearing as Peter Parker’s lawyer surrounding the case of him supposedly murdering Quentin Beck/Mysterio.

Daredevil‘s overarching villain, Wilson Fisk/Kingpin, also appeared more prominently in the later episodes of Disney+ series Hawkeye, once again played by Vincent D’Onofrio. D’Onofrio is also expected to return in the upcoming Disney+ show Echo, given his last appearance/interaction with the title character.

Before Cox even popped up in No Way Home, Marvel’s top guy Kevin Feige made it clear that the actor would be the iteration of Daredevil fans would meet should the character appear in the MCU. His comment to CinemaBlend in early December last year can be read below:

If you were to see Daredevil in upcoming things, Charlie Cox, yes, would be the actor playing Daredevil. Where we see that, how we see that, when we see that, remains to be seen.

Well, where we see it. How we see it. When. That can all be seen now.

Daredevil‘s new show currently has no release date.
