Jude Law Joins Jon Watts’ Star Wars Show

Dumbledore’s going to a galaxy far, far away…
The Star Wars universe is expanding, and Jude Law’s filmography is extending! The BAFTA-winning actor is officially set to star in Jon Watts’ upcoming Star Wars show for Disney+. And there’s more. The show now has a title; Star Wars: Skeleton Crew. This casting and title news was released on Star Wars‘ official Twitter account. You can see the post below:
The series will be executive produced by Watts, his Spider-Man: Homecoming writer Christopher Ford, Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau, and is set for a 2023 release.
When officially announced at last week’s Star Wars Celebration event in Anaheim, Watts had this to say to the crowd of eager fans:
It’s the story about a group of kids, about 10 years old, from a tiny little planet who accidentally get lost in the Star Wars galaxy. It’s the story of their journey trying to find their way home.

Watts added that the show stars kids so that it gives “a slightly different perspective on Star Wars, to see the galaxy through a different set of eyes”. Ford then went on to say that whilst it will focus on four children, it’s not a children’s show.
This show was previously said to be in development with no title, only having the codename of “Grammar Rodeo”. It was also described as a coming-of-age story in the same vein as The Goonies and E.T.
Law’s part in the series has not yet been revealed, but I’m sure we could guess. A parent to one of the kids? a mentor to the group? Potentially the villain of the piece? in recent years Law has dipped his toe more and more into IP properties which is fun to see.
He has portrayed Yon-Rogg in Captain Marvel and a younger Albus Dumbledore in the Fantastic Beasts film series set decades before the Harry Potter storylines take place. He’s also set to play the villainous Captain Hook in the upcoming live-action remake of Disney’s Peter Pan, titled Peter & Wendy. The film is set to be released on Disney+ but has no release date as of yet.
Star Wars: Skeleton Crew is due to release on Disney+ in 2023.
