New Shows For Disney+ - ScreenHeads

Phase 4 just keeps getting better!

The D23 Expo is an opportunity for all of the newest Disney content to be revealed and celebrated, and after Marvel’s stint at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con in July we thought they were done with their surprises. Well, we were wrong!

Along with additional news about Disney+ shows The Falcon and The Winter Soldier and What If…?, it was revealed that Marvel Studios are actually adding three more shows to their line-up on the House of Mouse’s new streaming service.

It was revealed on Friday (23 August) that Marvel characters She-Hulk, Ms Marvel and Moon Knight will all be getting their own shows respectively.

Not much is known about these shows but they are expected to air on Disney+ within the next few years. They join a long line of new shows that Marvel are producing with Disney, such as Hawkeye with Jeremy Renner returning as Clint Barton and Loki starring Tom Hiddleston who will also return as his icon villain.

For those who aren’t so savvy on these new characters, She-Hulk is the alter-ego of Jennifer Walters, a lawyer who receives a blood transfusion from her cousin, Bruce Banner, and through it becomes infused with his Hulk Gene whilst still retaining her intelligence and free-will.

Ms Marvel, the first Muslim hero in Marvel’s gallery, is the alter ego of teenager Kamala Khan who is imbued with inhuman genes that give her powers. This gives her the will to be a hero and she even chooses her name in honour of her idol, Captain Marvel.

lastly, Moon Knight is the hero identity of Marc Spector, an ex-CIA operative who, through multiple betrayals and a lot of turmoil, turns to a secret identity of not only Moon Knight, but also millionaire Steven Grant and cab driver Jake Lockley.

It is unknown what direction Disney and Marvel will take these heroes but we can imagine it will be a mixture of comic book accuracy and their own spin on the classic origins and tales.

Disney+ has big plans as of late, also taking the time to reveal at D23, with Ewan McGregor himself, that the Obi-Wan Kenobi series is OFFICIALLY in the works.

Aside from that, we also have 22 Jump Street star Wyatt Russell confirmed to play U.S Agent John Walker in The Falcon and The Winter Soldier. Plus, we also got our first look at Hayley Atwell’s Peggy Carter in the animated short series What If…?. THEN there is also the news that Disney+ will bring forth remakes of Home Alone, Night at the Museum and Diary of a Wimpy Kid.

Disney+ goes live in November, with all of the service’s so-far confirmed shows and films to be aired within the next few years.
