Yep, Pinocchio will release on Disney+ worldwide September 8, which is also Disney+ Day. Not a very long wait from this moment in time at all.

The film is helmed by legendary director Robert Zemeckis, with frequent collaborator Tom Hanks in the significant role of Geppetto, Pinocchio’s creator/father. Hanks of course appeared in Forrest Gump, Cast Away and The Polar Express for Zemeckis. Forrest Gump won Hanks a second Oscar for Best Actor.

The film will closely follow the interpretation that Disney brought to their animated film in the 1940s, following a small wooden puppet who is brought to life in the hope that he can one day be a real boy. Also starring in this live-action remake is Wicked‘s Cynthia Erivo, Beauty and the Beast‘s Luke Evans, Inception‘s Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Wonka‘s Keegan-Michael Key and The Sandman‘s Benjamin Evan Ainsworth in the title role.
