For any hardcore Batman fans, the trailer will be quite confusing. Why? Well, the show doesn’t seem to follow anything from canon really. The trailer depicts Bruce Wayne’s adopted son, Taylor Hayes (who?), finding out his father has been murdered. In the midst of this, he also finds out his father was Batman. From there, Hayes teams up with a group of Batman’s children to find out the truth behind Wayne’s murder, which also teams him up with Carrie Kelley/Robin. We also get a version of Harvey Dent popping up. A Harvey Dent with only one face. A Harvey Dent with only one face after Batman’s death. Come on help me out here, CW.

The series was ordered for a full series and is due to air in 2023, but it doesn’t look like fans are taking to the new spin at all. Since being revealed less than a day a go, the trailer has been trashed online. Could The CW be making a massive mistake? The network is already in a bad place with DC fans after axing Legends of Tomorrow and Batwoman without either show getting to round out their series in a definitive way.

The CW

To put a glass is half full spin on things, fandoms have spoke too soon about a lot of shows and castings that have always turned out to be hits. Bit of a stretch in this case, but should fans hold out and see the show properly before speaking too soon?

The show’s cast consists of Oscar Morgan as Turner Hayes, High School Musical: The Musical: The Series‘ Olivia Rose Keegan, Navia Robinson as Carrie Kelley, Fallon Smythe as Harper Row, Tyler DiChiara as Cullen Row, Anna Lore as Stephanie Brown, Rahart Adams as Brody and Supernatural’s Misha Collins as Harvey Dent.

Gotham Knights hits The CW in 2023.
